“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
– 2 Corinthians 2:19
This verse has comforted, shaped, and inspired our co-founder, Wes Sellers, for decades. It’s a truth he knows from personal experience. In many ways, it was a catalyst for founding CaringWays® as a way to help others during the difficult journey of healthcare recovery.
The seed for the dream that became CaringWays® was originally planted during Wes’s senior year of high school when his father passed away after a four-year battle with cancer. It was in that difficult season Wes learned the unfortunate reality that with sudden loss also comes overwhelming medical bills.
By the grace of God, my mother took a cancer rider policy out on my entire family 90 days before his initial diagnosis.
“By the grace of God, my mother took a cancer rider policy out on my entire family 90 days before his initial diagnosis. Had we not had a cancer rider policy as a backstop, we would have faced substantial medical expenses that would have had been very difficult for my family to overcome.”
It was during that painful time that Wes’s passion for supporting patients originated.
For the majority of his career, Wes’s work has centered on scaling unique ventures that generate new sources of revenue for hospitals or businesses and enhance the patient experience during treatment.
Wes has used his natural business acumen and gifts as a strategic connector to create multiple innovative companies in the early-stage healthcare venture space.
Over time my hope is that CaringWays® becomes the preeminent solution for people who feel isolated on their healthcare journey and need to be reminded they are not alone.
In many ways, CaringWays® was built on the same values that inspire our patients and CareChampions to start a campaign: harnessing the passion of a network of people who care to help people in need. After connecting with CaringWays® co-founders Ron Hollis and Kristi Morrow, the three recognized a shared experience of struggle with the financial aspects of healthcare and recovery. Together they decided to combine their leadership experience and passion for helping patients experiencing a medical crisis to officially launch CaringWays® as a medical fundraising platform in 2019.
“We believe our firsthand experiences navigating cancer have given us the empathy necessary to build CaringWays® in a way that addresses patient support in a dignified and trusted manner.”
We are committed to providing hope for those in need so that they can focus on the fight and not the finances.
Wes has dedicated his career to using his experience as an entrepreneur to build CaringWays® into a fundraising platform that provides practical help for patients in need.
“Over time my hope is that CaringWays® becomes the preeminent solution for people who feel isolated on their healthcare journey and need to be reminded they are not alone. I want to help as many people as possible focus on the fight… not the finances.”
